Waco, TX – According to the police officials, born in Waco, Eaton grew up just a few blocks from the Police Tower. With a background in computer hardware and software, he chose to pivot his career to serve his community by joining the police force.
Eaton began his law enforcement career in Arkansas, serving seven years as a patrol officer. During this time, he became a Drug Recognition Expert, Field Training Officer, and K9 officer. He collaborated with Benton Police Chief Kirk Lane on a highly successful statewide Drug Takeback Initiative. His efforts in creating the website artakeback.org were recognized by Governor Beebe and the DEA, and the site remains operational today.
In 2012, Eaton moved back to his hometown, bringing his family and career to Waco PD. He initially served on midnight patrol before transferring to the detectives’ unit, where he specialized in Crimes Against Children. Eaton worked closely with the advocacy center for child victims to assist and bring justice to the offenders. His dedication led to the conviction of hundreds of felonies and several lifetime sentences.
Eaton was later promoted to Sergeant, supervising midnight patrol, the crime scene unit, and dayshift patrol. With 20 years of police experience, he now steps into his new role as Commander, overseeing midnight patrol alongside three other Sergeants.
Commander Eaton, a father of three and husband to Tamara for 25 years, enjoys spending his free time showing animals with his children in FFA, participating in Band Boosters, and being involved with his Masonic Lodge.
