TROY, Texas – A high-speed chase that spanned several miles and involved multiple law enforcement agencies ended with three people arrested early Friday morning in Bell County.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on February 2, officers from the Troy Police Department observed two vehicles traveling at dangerously high speeds on I-35 South, reaching up to 108 miles per hour. Authorities attempted to pull over the first vehicle, but the driver continued fleeing, maintaining speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
The pursuit escalated when the suspect vehicle attempted to turn northbound in southbound lanes near Industrial Blvd. in Temple, a dangerous maneuver that only heightened the risk for other drivers and officers. A Troy PD vehicle was eventually able to force the fleeing car off the highway, but the suspects did not surrender. Instead, they abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
As the investigation progressed, law enforcement officials discovered drugs and weapons inside the abandoned vehicle. The suspects were eventually located near a second vehicle with the help of the Lorena Police Department, Temple Police Department, and the Bell County Sheriff’s Department. All three individuals were taken into custody without incident.
Troy PD confirmed that no injuries occurred during the pursuit or the subsequent arrests. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full scope of the crime and potential charges.
While details on the charges have yet to be released, the incident highlights the continued risks posed by high-speed pursuits and the collaborative efforts of local agencies in ensuring public safety.
