TX-18 in Matagorda Bay to open for commercial and recreational oyster harvesting on Feb. 18

Texas – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department announced that TX-18 in Matagorda Bay will open for commercial and recreational oyster harvesting starting at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Recent samples collected by TPWD indicated that TX-18 met reopening criteria, including the required abundance of legal-sized oysters measuring three inches or greater.

TPWD will continue monitoring all harvest areas and adjust openings or closures as thresholds are met.

A map of oyster harvesting areas and the latest status updates can be found on the Texas Department of State Health Services website.
