Waco Fire Department assists with swiftwater rescue in McGregor, urges caution around floodwaters

Waco, TX – The Waco Fire Department recently responded to a swiftwater rescue call in McGregor, providing mutual aid to local crews after a vehicle became stranded on a low water crossing bridge with a person reportedly in the water.

The incident occurred on the 1000 block of Indian Trail, where Waco’s Technical Rescue Team joined McGregor responders to safely manage the situation.

Following the successful rescue, Waco Fire Department personnel emphasized the dangers of moving water, reminding the public to heed flood safety warnings.

“Please ‘Turn Around, Don’t Drown,’” the department urged. “Moving water is incredibly dangerous and powerful.”

Officials continue to stress the importance of avoiding flooded roadways and low water crossings during heavy rain or flooding events to prevent similar emergencies.
