Waco opens warming center for those at risk due to extreme cold temperatures

Waco, TX – In response to the forecasted low temperatures, the City of Waco, in partnership with the Waco-McLennan County OEM, has opened the Waco Multi-Purpose Facility (1020 Elm Ave) as a warming center to provide shelter for individuals at risk from the extreme cold.

The facility will offer a heated indoor space, cots, blankets, Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), and bottled water. Crated pets are also welcome. The warming center will be open starting at 8:00 p.m. on February 18, 2025, and will close at 10:00 a.m. on February 20, 2025.

Residents in need of shelter are encouraged to visit the facility, and community members are urged to share this information with those who may need a safe, warm place to stay. Stay safe, Waco!
