Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department (WPD) and Waco Fire Department came together for a great cause this year, hosting a charity basketball game that raised over $3,400 for Special Olympics Texas. The event, held on April 2, saw strong support from the local community.
“We are so grateful for everyone who came out to support our Waco PD and Waco Fire teams,” the Waco Police Department shared on social media.
“We raised over $3,400 for Special Olympics Texas, and we couldn’t be more proud to help raise funds for an organization like them.”
The event featured a special appearance by Texas State Representative Pat Curry, who joined in showing support for the athletes and the charity.
While Waco Fire Department came out victorious in this year’s competition, WPD remains determined to take home the win next year. The friendly rivalry between the two teams was just as fun and competitive as the cause they were supporting.
