Waco Police Department investigates homicide following death of 44-year-old man after gunshot wound

Waco, TX – Waco Police Department Special Crimes Detectives are currently investigating a homicide following the death of 44-year-old Randy Carpenter.

Police officers were called to the 2600 Block of Grim on February 22, 2025, at 12:50 p.m. after reports of a gunshot wound.

Carpenter was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was officially pronounced deceased on February 28, 2025.

The investigation has now been classified as a homicide, and detectives are actively searching for a suspect.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-753-HELP (4357) to submit anonymous tips.

A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

This marks the second homicide investigation in Waco for 2025.
