Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department is heartbroken by the passing of Officer Marshall Hobbs. Born in El Paso, Texas, Marshall moved to Waco shortly before joining the department. His commitment to serving others began long before he wore the Waco PD badge.
Marshall’s journey of service started in the Army, where he served as an E-5 Sergeant at Fort Hood from 2016 to 2021. He then joined the Waco Police Department in January 2021 as a Police Recruit. After completing the 78th Police Academy, Marshall proudly served as an overnight Patrol Officer, dedicating himself to the Waco community.
To his fellow officers, Marshall was more than a colleague—he was family. Known for his sharp wit, intelligence, and unwavering dependability, he could always be counted on in times of need. His genuine care for everyone he encountered set him apart as an exceptional officer. During his time with Waco PD, Marshall was recognized with a Life-Saving Award and a Merit Unit Award.
Above all, Marshall was a devoted husband, son, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
