Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department recently had the opportunity to share its approach to relational policing at the DC Police Leadership Academy in Washington, DC. The department’s relational policing methods were highlighted in a class focused on building trust through connection. This approach emphasizes the importance of establishing positive relationships between officers and the communities they serve.
The class, titled “Relational Policing: Using the Power of Connection to Build Trust,” was taught to rising law enforcement professionals, offering them valuable insights on leadership and community engagement. The DC Police Leadership Academy is recognized as the nation’s premier leadership development program for law enforcement officers, particularly those in lieutenant, captain, and other supervisory roles.
Additionally, a commander from the Waco Police Department attended the academy as part of the ongoing professional development program, gaining further insight into the leadership practices shared during the training.
