Applications are open for the WPD Junior Police Academy, police officials say

Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department is proud to share that Southern Careers Institute is donating two $4,500 scholarships in support of The COE event.

The COE—Community Outreach and Engagement—is designed to provide youth, teens, and young adults with essential resources such as life skills training, job opportunities, mentoring programs, mental and physical health information, GED support, and access to scholarships and grant information.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Applications for the scholarships are now open and can be submitted at the following link.

“Policing is not just about enforcing laws; it’s about building relationships,” the department stated. “It’s about knowing the names, the stories, and the struggles of those we serve.

It’s about walking into our neighborhoods as partners, not strangers. The COE is a unique opportunity for us all to come together and help fill those gaps.”
