Waco, TX – After experiencing multiple significant breaks in the city’s water and wastewater systems, Waco Public Works and Infrastructure crews worked tirelessly, including weekends and overnight shifts, to quickly isolate and repair the issues.
One major repair involved replacing a 9-foot-long, 16-inch-diameter section of water main located near the Brazos River.
Crews worked in a 20-foot-deep excavation, coordinating closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to temporarily lower the river level, ensuring safe access to the repair site.
Thanks to the crew’s resourcefulness and teamwork, the repair was completed entirely in-house, resulting in substantial savings for both residents and the city.
The city recognized and thanked the dedicated crew members for their efforts, including Jacob Mitchell, Matthew Wiegel, Dana Johnston, Rick Loyer, and Jose Moreno.
