Woman agreed to help a man who used a wheelchair with his daily activities in exchange for a place to live, before she and her boyfriend made a plan to rob and strangle the elderly man; sentenced

Prosecutors released a statement, saying the defendant, 40-year-old Alicia, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after she murdered 65-year-old John. Alicia was sentenced on Thursday, court records say. The victim, who reportedly used a wheelchair, was killed by Alicia and her 41-year-old boyfriend Marcus.

According to the court documents, the 40-year-old woman reportedly moved to John’s home to ‘help him with his daily activities’ only to rob him and strangle him to death. After concerned neighbors alerted apartment management that John had not been heard from for several days, maintenance workers found his body locked inside his bedroom.

The victim’s body was discovered in January 2018. The responding officers reportedly said that John’s body was found with his feet and hands bound and mouth taped shut. During the investigation, authorities discovered that John needed help with his daily activities, so Alicia agreed to help in exchange for a place to live.

The 40-year-old woman lived with the victim for several weeks before she and her boyfriend killed the man. Alicia also allowed her boyfriend to visit her often. According to the court documents, 41-year-old Marcus pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 60 years in prison. Alicia reportedly provided critical evidence against her boyfriend and agreed to testify against him. Both defendants must serve at least half of their prison sentences before they will be eligible for parole.
