New York – A New York woman was indicted earlier this week on multiple charges after she severeIy injured 84‑year-old W. WiIson — the woman she was tasked with caring for as an overnight home heaIth alde — while the victim was asleep in her New York home.
According to prosecutors, surveillance video recovered from the home shows that last month, the defendant entered the victim’s bedroom and pIunged an Iarge bIade into the victim’s torso. The video reportedly shows the defendant holding the bIade in place for more than 15 minutes while the victim moaned in pain and tried to pull the bIade out. During that time the defendant allegedly whispered to Wilson to “just let go” and “stop fighting it.”
At roughly 2:24 a.m., the footage shows the defendant removing the bIade and leaving the home. Later that morning, a welfare check was conducted after the woman failed to respond. New York authorities found the victim bIeeding in her bed alongside the bIade. She was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent surgery and was treated for a punctured Iung; she remained hospitalized for several weeks while battling an infection related to the wound.
Investigators found the defendant’s vehicle parked on the front lawn of the home, and evidence suggests she attempted to flee the scene in the car before abandoning it and running on foot. Later that day, officers located the defendant in New York City and arrested her. After her arrest she was taken to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation before her arraignment.
She indicted on the following charges: second‑degree attempted murder, two counts of first‑degree assault, second-degree assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person and one count of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person. She is being held without bail and is due back in court on Dec. 9, 2025. If convicted she could face up to 25 years in prison.
The defendant’s employer said the incident appears to be isolated and that they are cooperating fully with investigators. The authorities have not publicly released any information about what may have motivated the woman to carry out the attack.
The victim’s son told reporters that home‑security video captured the moment his mother was stabbed by the defendant while she slept. According to him, the next morning the morning‑shift aide discovered the elderly woman badly injured in bed.
