Texas – A Texas woman, identified as 36-year-old Misti, is facing multiple charges after authorities in Texas say she left her children home alone, unattended and without supervision for more than 10 hours while she went out drinking.
The investigation process began last month after the woman’s 12-year-old girl called 911, reporting that she and her sibling had been abandoned at home for hours. According to the authorities, the children stated that their mother told them she was going to pick up a package from a friend nearby, but never returned, local news outlet WISTV reported.
Upon responding to the scene, the deputies reportedly made contact with the children, who were left alone in the home. The responding deputies then tracked the mother’s whereabouts through her phone, which led them to an undisclosed location.
When the deputies arrived at the location, they found the 36-year-old parent, who appeared drunk. Authorities also discovered cocaine in her possession.
During questioning, the mother reportedly admitted to leaving her children home alone, according to the sheriff’s office. She was arrested and charged with multiple charges, including abandoning or endangering a child. Additionally, she faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
This incident highlights concerns over child safety and the responsibility of parents to ensure the well-being of their children. The 36-year-old mom is currently facing legal consequences for her actions, and it remains unclear if the children will be placed in temporary care or returned to her custody.
