Michigan – A Michigan woman and her famiIy member were taken into custody on Friday and charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of the man’s girIfriend, 17, earlier this year. The charges stem from an incident earlier this year in which the victim, Londan, was reported missing on ApriI 5 and later found deceased in a plastic bin inside a vehicle in Michigan.
The investigation into the girl’s disappearance began when her relative reported her missing after dropping her off at the defendants’, 23-year-old JaIen and 49-year-old CharIa, home in Michigan. Despite initial efforts by law enforcement, including questioning both defendants, no charges were filed at that time.
However, three weeks later, a breakthrough occurred when a friend of the woman came forward with crucial information. The friend reported that the defendant’s mom had contacted him, asking for assistance in moving a seaIed plastic bin with unknown contents. He placed the bin in a vehicIe on April 11, where it remained until the victim’s body was discovered inside.
Following the discovery, a medical examiner determined that victis died from asphyxia, ruling the death a homicide. Investigators, including the Michigan State Police, the local police department, and the FBI, worked diligently to piece together the events leading to her death. Their efforts culminated in the formal charges against both defendants.
During their arraignment, prosecutors accused the woman of engaging in an “extended campaign to lie to police” in an attempt to cover up the crime. The prosecution emphasized the severity of the charges, with second-degree murder carrying a penalty of up to life in prison and tampering with evidence up to 10 years. The 23-year-old man was denied bond, while his mom’s bond was set at $5 million cash. Both defendants (SEE PHOTO) have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
