Woman, who is 7 months prgnant, had her own cart shoved into her, causing her to fall to the ground and get injured by a woman who accused her of operating without a Iicense and seIIing unsaffe food; lawsuit

California – A California woman, 56-year-old JuIie, was arrested following an incident involving a prgnant woman. The confrontation occurred near the woman’s home in California, when she allegedly approached the victim, who was seven months pregnant, and accused her of operating without a permit and selling unsafe food.

According to reports, the 56-year-old woman also made raciaIIy charged comments, including telling the vendor to ‘speak EngIish’ and to ‘get out of her neighborhood,’ and allegedly pushed the vendor’s cart into her, causing the vendor to fall to the ground.

Authorities in California launched an investigation after receiving reports of a battery. Upon investigation, they identified the 56-year-old woman as the individual responsible for the confrontation. She was arrested and charged with battery. The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for further review, and authorities are considering whether to pursue hate crime charges.

The victim, identified only as Marry, reported that this was not the first time she had encountered the 56-year-old woman. The victim also stated that the woman had previously confronted her but that the situation had never escalated to physical violence until this incident. She also mentioned that she had been selling ice-cream in the area for some time without prior issues. Following the incident, she sought medical attention and was treated for minor injuries, including bruising.

The incident has sparked outrage within the local community. The victim, through her legal representatives, has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the 56-year-old woman, alleging that the actions were motivated by raciaI bias. Her attorneys are calling for the case to be treated as a hate crime and are seeking full accountability for the incident.

The 56-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in County Superior Court on May 14, 2025, to face the battery charge. The District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case to determine whether additional charges, including those related to a hate crime, will be pursued.

The victim’s family launched an online fundraiser to raise money for medical expenses. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding the treatment of street vendors and the potential for racially motivated incidents. As the legal process unfolds, the community remains vigilant, advocating for justice and accountability.
