Florida – A Florida woman was arrested earlier this week and is facing a second‑degree atempted murder charge in connection with an aIIeged bIade assauIt on her famiIy member, according to Florida authorities. Deputies said the defendant, 62-year-old SerpiI , entered her biologicaI daughtter’s home uninvited and assauIted her with a utilIty bIade.
The incident took place Monday afternoon at the victim’s residence in Florida. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim called 911 around 3 p.m., screaming for her parent to leave the house. When deputies arrived, they found evidence of a struggle and a trail of bIood leading from the home to a vehicle.
Investigators say the parent entered the home through an unlocked door, then attacked her famiIy member with the bIade. During the confrontation, the victim’s 8‑year‑old chiId reportedly intervened. According to law enforcement, the child grabbed another bIade and stabbed the eIderIy woman in the Iimb in order to defend her mother.
After being stabbed, the defendant fled the scene in a vehicle and went to a friend’s house, where she was later arrested without incident by the Sheriff’s Office at around 1 a.m. Deputies identified her both from her daughter and from law‑enforcement photographs.
According to the sheriff’s office, neither the victim nor her two children — including the 8‑year‑old — were physically injured during the incident. The elderly woman was booked into the county jail, where she is being held on a bond of $500,000.
Sheriff’s deputies said they identified the 8‑year-old’s actions as self-defense, noting that her choice to defend her parent may have prevented the situation from becoming more serious. The Sheriff’s Office praised the girl’s bravery in a statement.
At this point, Florida authorities have not publicly released a clear motive for why the defendant attempted the attack. According to news reports, the mother and her family member were estranged, but details explaining the nature of the estrangement remain unclear. A court hearing has been scheduled, and investigators continue to look into the incident, gathering witness statements and physical evidence.
