WPD announces applications for 2025 Junior Police Academy opening April 7

Applications are open for the WPD Junior Police Academy, police officials say

Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department announced that applications for the 2025 Junior Police Academy will open on April 7. The deadline to submit a completed application is Monday, May 12, at 5:00 p.m. The academy will run from Monday, June 9, through Thursday, June 19, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., concluding with a graduation ceremony on June 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Accepted students must attend an orientation meeting on June 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Waco Police Department, located at 3115 Pine Avenue. Both the student and a parent or guardian must attend this orientation to be eligible for the academy.

Applicants must be entering high school in grades 9 through 12 and must not have any criminal offenses higher than a Class C misdemeanor. Those with misdemeanor offenses higher than a Class C, felony charges, or who are on probation or parole are not eligible to apply. All applicants will undergo a criminal background check before acceptance.
