Young mom, who sent message to the boy she thought was her baby’s father and told him that the pregnancy had been taken care of after she gave birth on the toiIet and put the baby in trash bag because ‘she thought the newborn child was gone’, was resentenced!

According to the court documents, the 27-year-old mom, Emily, who reportedly killed her baby Addison, was resentenced and is now eligible for parole after spending 20 years in prison. The young mother was resentenced on Thursday. In 2016, Emily was found guilty of aggravated murder, gross abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence.Prosecutors said the young mother gave birth in a t0ilet. She then put the newborn in a trash bag and left the bag outside.

Emily then sent a text to the boy she thought was the father of the baby and told him that the pregnancy had been taken care of, adding that there was “no more baby”. When he asked for details, she told him she’d gone into labour the day before but the baby had died when there were complications. The doctors told investigators that the mother carried the baby to full term. During an interview with investigators, the woman reportedly said that she’d given birth on the toilet, then removed the placenta.

She’d left the bathroom to get a knife from the kitchen to cut the umbiIical cord and when she came back, she was certain the baby girl was dead because there was no movement. The medical examiner told authorities that the baby girl died from asphyxiation and was alive and taking breaths when she was placed in the bag. She’d suffocated. An autopsy also revealed that the boy Emily thought was the father, wasn’t.

The mother’s lawyer reportedly convinced the courts that the trial judge should’ve allowed mitigating expert testimony regarding their client’s mental state during the stressful experience of pregnancy. But, prosecutors claimed that the mother did not want the baby and did not want to be judged for getting pregnant. Shortly before the fatal incident, the woman demanded the suspected father tell his parents she was pregnant or else. The man was not the father.
