According to the court documents, the 31-year-old woman, later identified as Erika, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after she stabbed her mom to death and severely injured her aunt. Just 6 hours before the fatal stabbing, both victims got into fight with the defendant. Officers, who responded to a disturbance call, wanted to take Erika into custody for assault and child endangerment, but the DA’s office declined due to a lack of evidence.
Prosecutors said the 31-year-old daughter was drunk at the time of the call. According to the court documents, the 31-year-old daughter reportedly put on a mask before she broke into her mom’s residence. The woman then began stabbing her 51-year-old mom Teri and her 63-year-old aunt.
The woman stabbed her mother to death and severely injured her aunt before leaving the home. Erika then went to her home, changed clothes and returned to the crime scene. Luckily, her aunt was able to recognize the attacker. During an interview with investigators, the 31-year-old daughter reportedly said that she had no idea what happened. The responding officers found a knife and clothes covered with blood in Erika’s apartment.
