Waco, TX — An 18-year-old Woodway man was arrested on December 10, 2024, after allegedly assaulting both his mother and grandfather, according to a police affidavit.
Hayden Phillips faces charges of continuous violence against the family following the incident, which occurred around 1 p.m. at a residence on the 1500 block of McLennan Crossing Road. Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance call and made contact with Phillips’ mother and grandfather upon arrival.
According to the affidavit, Phillips’ grandfather told police that he confronted his grandson after suspecting that Phillips had taken his firearm. The confrontation reportedly escalated when Phillips shoved his grandfather, threatened to fight him, and lunged at him with his fists. After the incident, Phillips reportedly fled into the woods. Authorities later located him running on a property off Speegleville Road, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
Upon his arrest, officers discovered that Phillips had a previous history of family violence. Records revealed that he had been arrested in September 2024 for an assault involving his grandfather.
