Waco, TX – Waco police officers visited Mart and Riesel elementary schools as part of Red Ribbon Week, spending time with students and encouraging them to make positive choices and stay away from drugs.
The Waco Police Department said officers used the visits to build connections with students, share smiles and remind children that their choices matter.
Red Ribbon Week is a national drug-prevention campaign that honors Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who was killed in 1985 by members of a Mexican drug cartel.
The campaign raises awareness about drug prevention and encourages young people to make healthy, drug-free decisions.
