Waco, TX – As the holiday season approaches, many people take time off to relax and celebrate. However, for the dedicated members of the Golinda Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), the holidays are just another reminder of the importance of being prepared for emergencies. With nine volunteer firefighters on call, the department is always ready to respond to a variety of situations, from medical emergencies to fires.
When a call comes in, the firefighters are immediately notified and spring into action. According to Fire Chief Brian Lamb, the department’s quick response is vital. “We get here pretty quickly and get the trucks cranked up, but all of our equipment is completely full,” Lamb said. “They stay full when we get back from any kind of a call. We restock the trucks and just make sure that they’re ready for the next call.”
The Golinda VFD is equipped to handle both fire and medical emergencies. The department’s trucks are stocked with water and firefighting equipment at all times, ensuring they are prepared to tackle any fire that may break out. In addition, the department is ready to provide medical assistance when needed. If the firefighters arrive at the scene before an ambulance, they are equipped with medical gear in the back of their truck to provide immediate care.
Despite the holiday festivities, first responders like the Golinda volunteer firefighters remain on duty throughout the season. Their commitment to service means that while most people enjoy time off, these firefighters are always ready to answer the call and provide critical support to the community.
The dedication of the Golinda Volunteer Fire Department reflects the spirit of volunteerism and selflessness that is vital to the success of such departments. As emergencies do not take a break for the holidays, neither do the men and women who serve their communities with unwavering commitment year-round.
