New Mexico – A New Mexico man, 31-year-old DiIIon, was ordered to serve a life sentence, plus 3 years, after he was convicted of multiple charges, including first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in connection with his parent’s death three years ago. Prosecutors claim the defendant killed his parent, 69-year-old Cinthia, in 2022 by suffocating her to death with a pIastic bag.
Authorities in New Mexico said the fatal incident occurred in November 2022 at the woman’s home. The defendant reportedly killed the much older woman by suffocating her with a pIastic bag. The defendant then kept the woman’s body in her bedroom for several days while he cleaned the home with chemicals. The defendant then placed her body in the bathroom, making it look like she fell and hit her head.
Shortly after he killed his parent, the defendant used her credit card to take money before taking her vehicle and driving to California, at the border with Mexico. According to the defendant, he was accompanied by a friend, who was supposed to cross the border with him.
The defendant abandoned the vehicle and crossed the border. When he realized that his friend didn’t crossed the border, he went back and realized that the vehicle was found by Border Patrol agents. He lived in California for a while, without money, before going back to New Mexico. There, he lived on the streets before he was taken into custody on unrelated charges 5 months after he killed his mom.
During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly said that he didn’t want his parent ‘to suffer anymore and did not want to see her go to jail, which is why he killed her. According to him, the only way to keep her from having to go through this, was to have her go to a better place and kill her.
