Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department is extending an invitation to the community for the annual McLennan County Peace Officer Memorial Service, which will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Indian Spring Park.

The event, held during National Police Week, is a time for the community to come together to honor and remember those who have lost their lives while serving in law enforcement.

The memorial service is a poignant occasion for both the public and law enforcement professionals to reflect on the ultimate sacrifices made by police officers in the line of duty. The service aims to pay tribute to fallen officers and offer support to their families, who have endured immense loss.

A statement from the Waco Police Department highlighted the importance of community involvement. “Your attendance at this memorial service shows support for the dedicated police officers and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” the department said. “Your presence will be greatly appreciated as we take this opportunity to honor their lives and commitment to public safety.”

The ceremony will feature various tributes, including a moment of silence, speeches from local officials, and a ceremonial wreath-laying to commemorate the lives of the officers lost.

It provides an opportunity for the community to unite and express gratitude for the officers’ service while reinforcing the importance of law enforcement in ensuring public safety.

The service will be open to the public, and residents of Waco and the surrounding areas are encouraged to attend to show solidarity with local law enforcement and support the families of fallen officers.

The McLennan County Peace Officer Memorial Service is part of a nationwide observance during National Police Week, which celebrates the work and dedication of law enforcement officers across the country. This annual event serves as a reminder of the risks police officers face daily and the sacrifices made to keep communities safe.

For those planning to attend, the event will be held at Indian Spring Park, located in downtown Waco. The Waco Police Department encourages community members to come together for this important occasion, which will undoubtedly be a significant and meaningful event for all involved.
