Texas – The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) announced that correctional staff will receive a pay increase for the fourth year in a row.
The Texas Legislature approved a 10% pay increase this session, bringing total raises to over 40% since 2022.
In addition to the pay increases, the State Auditor’s Office (SAO) updated job classifications at the end of the legislative session.
The Correctional Officer I position has been reinstated for newly hired officers, who will advance to Correctional Officer II after seven months and Correctional Officer III after 13 months of service.
TDCJ is also introducing a new title, Senior Correctional Officer, for those with 73 or more months of service.
Officers earning this title will receive a special patch to recognize their experience and dedication, further honoring the commitment of TDCJ staff to public safety and institutional excellence.
