Texas – Governor Greg Abbott announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) approved his request for a rural area disaster declaration following catastrophic flooding in July. The declaration covers Coke, Concho, Kendall, Mason, and Sutton counties, providing access to federal financial assistance for recovery efforts.
“With the approval of this disaster declaration, more communities impacted by the devastating floods that took place over the Fourth of July weekend will have access to critical financial assistance they need to recover,” Abbott said. He thanked the Texas Division of Emergency Management for coordinating with federal partners and emphasized the state’s commitment to providing necessary resources to affected communities.
The SBA declaration allows homeowners, renters, and businesses in the affected areas to apply for Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL), offering low-interest financing to aid recovery. Applications are available online at sba.gov/disaster, via email at [email protected], or by calling 800-659-2955. Completed applications can be mailed to the SBA Processing and Disbursement Center in Fort Worth.
Governor Abbott has taken multiple actions to support recovery from the flooding, including requesting federal disaster assistance for impacted counties, extending disaster unemployment assistance, securing FEMA Individual Assistance registration extensions, distributing relief funds through the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund, and announcing over $40 million in long-term flood relief efforts. Other initiatives have included funding for hospitals, launching the Texas Flooding Emotional Support Line, and providing updates and resources to residents in the Hill Country and Central Texas.
Residents and businesses affected by the flooding are encouraged to apply for SBA assistance and stay informed about ongoing state recovery efforts through official channels.
