Texas – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller issued a statement reaffirming the state’s commitment to keeping school meal programs running despite what he described as a “damaging Schumer government shutdown.”
Miller emphasized that the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) remains dedicated to serving the children of Texas without interruption. He assured parents, teachers, and school nutrition teams that students across the state will continue to receive meals, regardless of location or district size.
“At the Texas Department of Agriculture, our mission to serve the children of Texas never stops,” Miller said. “No child will be left to wonder if there’ll be a meal waiting for them at school.”
He added that TDA will continue working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Secretary Brooke Rollins, the Trump Administration, and local partners to ensure that every student in Texas is fed.
According to Miller, the department has implemented safeguards to guarantee that meal reimbursements will continue to be paid on schedule, allowing schools to keep serving healthy breakfasts and lunches essential for student growth and learning.
