Waco, TX – The City of Waco recognized major accomplishments within the Waco Fire Department this week, celebrating both the completion of probation for Recruit Class 24-1 and the presentation of the Phoenix Award to three exceptional crews.
After a year of rigorous training and dedication, members of Recruit Class 24-1 officially completed their probationary period, earning the right to trade their blue “Probationary Firefighter” shields for black “Waco Firefighter” shields—a proud milestone marking their full firefighter status.
In addition, three Waco Fire Department crews were honored with the Phoenix Award, which recognizes firefighters for their successful life-saving efforts in resuscitating patients who later recovered and walked out of the hospital on their own.
City officials expressed gratitude to all members of the Waco Fire Department for their continued commitment to protecting and serving the community.
