Austin, TX — State leaders marked the opening of the Constellation Pin Oak peaking power plant, a new facility expected to strengthen grid reliability and meet rising energy demand across Texas.
Governor Greg Abbott said the plant will add 460 megawatts of electricity to the state’s power grid, providing additional capacity during periods of peak demand.
Officials noted the project is designed to deliver fast, dispatchable power to help maintain stability when energy usage is highest.
The facility is the first project to come online under the Texas Energy Fund, an initiative aimed at reinforcing the state’s electrical infrastructure.
State officials highlighted broader efforts to expand capacity, noting that more than 61,000 megawatts of new power have been added to the grid over the past five years.
Energy leaders said the plant will play a key role in supporting homes and businesses, particularly during extreme weather or high-demand periods.
The project is part of ongoing efforts to ensure reliable and affordable energy as Texas continues to grow.
Officials and local leaders attended the opening ceremony, emphasizing the importance of continued investment in infrastructure to support long-term economic development and energy security across the state.
