Waco, TX – Waco Police announced that the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office won this year’s Battle of the Badges after narrowly defeating Waco PD in a community blood drive.
The event drew a record 350 registered donors and collected 321 units of blood, enough to potentially save more than 960 lives.
The sheriff’s office beat Waco PD by just 1% to take home the trophy.
Waco Police congratulated the winners but said the real victory belonged to the patients who will benefit from the donations.
“Thank you, Waco, for showing up, competing, donating, and most importantly, helping save lives,” the department said.
