Texas – Governor Greg Abbott announced that a $700,000 grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund has been awarded to the University of Texas at Dallas to support a semiconductor training project on its campus.
According to the announcement, the funding will be used to develop a small-scale training cleanroom in the university’s Research Operations West building. The facility will provide hands-on instruction in cleanroom operations, safety protocols, and semiconductor processing.
State leaders said the project is intended to expand workforce training opportunities and prepare students and new employees for high-demand careers in semiconductor manufacturing and technology. The program will serve individuals at multiple education levels, including high school, community college, undergraduate, and graduate students.
Officials noted the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen Texas’ position in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing while supporting long-term economic growth and innovation.
