Texas – Greg Abbott highlighted the continued strength of the Texas economy after the state added 40,100 nonfarm jobs in January, reaching a new historic high of 14,379,500 total jobs.
In a statement, Abbott said Texas continues to attract businesses and investment because of its pro-business environment and economic opportunities. He emphasized that the state’s focus on education funding, workforce training, and infrastructure has helped position Texas for sustained growth across multiple industries.
Data released by the Texas Workforce Commission showed that the state’s labor force reached 15,955,200 in January, while the number of employed Texans, including self-employed individuals, totaled 15,267,100.
Officials also reported that Texas gained 112,200 jobs between January 2025 and January 2026, outpacing the national annual job growth rate.
The governor recently reiterated his message during a fireside chat at the Forward Fort Worth mobility innovation summit, where he pointed to Texas’ business-friendly climate as a key driver of corporate relocations and expansions.
Abbott noted that a wide range of industries are already established in the state, with more companies continuing to move operations to Texas.
State leaders said the combination of economic policies and continued investment has helped Texas remain competitive in attracting new businesses while supporting job creation statewide.
