Texas – Governor Greg Abbott marked the 90th anniversary of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and honored the bravery of Recruit Class A-2025 during a graduation ceremony held at Great Hills Baptist Church.
The Governor congratulated over 120 new troopers who completed a demanding 30-week training program.
“DPS has a legendary place in the history of Texas,” Abbott said. “DPS troopers are the go-to team to keep our state safe. Whatever the challenge, you are now part of the DPS legacy—a legacy built by heroes.”
The graduating class included 52 military veterans, 19 women, 14 with prior law enforcement experience, and 55 bilingual troopers. They will begin their assignments at various duty stations on September 1, 2025.
Officials attending the ceremony included Public Safety Commission members Larry Long and Nelda Luce Blair, DPS Director Freeman Martin, and other state and law enforcement leaders.
