Mom gave birth on the sidewalk and began dragging her newborn baby by the umbiIical cord, once she was separated from her child, she began to leave the scene and left her baby, who was breathing, but not moving!

Police officials said the mother, later identified as 41-year-old Ashley, was taken into custody after she gave birth on the sidewalk and started dragging her newborn baby by the umbiIical cord. Witnesses told the responding officers that the 41-year-old mom grabbed her newborn baby by the umbiIical cord and started dragging the poor child.

Police officials discovered that the dragging stopped when the newborn baby became detached from her mother and she fled the scene. Police officials said the mother is now facing possible child abandonment charges. When officers arrived on scene, they found the baby still attached to the cord on the sidewalk.

First responders rushed the newborn baby girl to the hospital. Luckily, the baby was still breathing, but was not moving. Doctors told authorities that Ashley’s pregnancy was somewhere in 38 weeks, so the baby was definitely viable. Doctors examined the newborn baby and determined that she was fine.

Ashley was found shortly after and officers took her into custody. She was later released without being charged pending further investigation because she was admitted to the hospital. Police officials said that they will forward this case to the prosecutors, because there’s not much left for them to do on the investigation.
