Texas – Commissioner Sid Miller praised the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Ivomec (ivermectin) injectable solution to prevent New World screwworm (NWS).
In a statement, Miller said the FDA’s approval gives ranchers direct access to a critical tool to protect livestock, particularly in high-risk border areas.
The measure aims to safeguard cattle, ensure animal welfare, and protect the nation’s beef supply.
Miller thanked President Trump, HHS Secretary Kennedy, and the FDA for their support, calling the decision a “vital win for Texas agriculture” and emphasizing the state’s proactive role in combating the disease.
The FDA’s full release on the Ivomec EUA is available online.
