Texas Governor Greg Abbott to Deliver Annual State of the State Address

Waco, TX – Governor Greg Abbott will deliver his highly anticipated State of the State address on Sunday, February 2, at the Arnold Oil Company in Austin, Texas. The address, which is set to begin at 5 p.m., marks the start of the 89th Legislative Session and is expected to outline Abbott’s priorities for the current legislative year.

This year’s address will be delivered from a location outside the traditional setting of the Texas Capitol, further emphasizing the state’s deep ties to the energy industry and Abbott’s commitment to promoting Texas’s economic strength.

Abbott is expected to address several key issues during his speech, with a primary focus on school vouchers and border security. School vouchers, which allow parents to use public funds for private school tuition, have been a controversial topic in Texas for years. Abbott has made this a legislative priority, with hopes of advancing it further during the current session.

Another major topic likely to be addressed is the state’s border security efforts, specifically Operation Lone Star. Abbott recently requested an $11.1 billion reimbursement from the federal government for the resources spent on the operation, which has been a central part of his administration’s approach to managing border issues. Abbott has also made it clear that securing the southern border will remain a top priority for the state.

In his recent statement, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of the legislative session, calling it an opportunity to further cement Texas’s position as a leading economic and political force. “Texas is the blueprint for America’s future,” Abbott said. “This 89th Legislative Session brings new opportunities for the Texas Legislature and statewide leaders to strengthen our national and global position as the beacon of economic opportunity, prosperity, and individual liberty.”

The legislative session began on January 14 and will run through June 2, providing Texas lawmakers with several months to tackle a range of issues, including Abbott’s proposed initiatives.

As Abbott prepares to outline his vision for Texas’s future, political analysts and citizens alike are keenly watching the address for clues about how the governor plans to navigate the complex and often contentious issues facing the state.
