Waco, TX – The Waco Fire Department is inviting McLennan County residents to take part in its sixth annual Citizen Fire Academy, offering participants an opportunity to learn more about the work of firefighters through classroom instruction and hands-on demonstrations.
The program is open to McLennan County residents who are 18 years old and older. Participants will get an inside look at the responsibilities and challenges faced by firefighters while taking part in both educational sessions and practical activities.
The Citizen Fire Academy is designed to give community members a better understanding of the work performed by the Waco Fire Department and the role firefighters play in protecting residents and responding to emergencies.
Through the classroom portion, participants will learn about various aspects of the fire service, while hands-on demonstrations will provide an opportunity to experience elements of firefighting in a controlled setting.
The department encouraged eligible residents interested in learning more about the profession and the work of local firefighters to reserve a spot in the upcoming academy.
