Applications are open for the WPD Junior Police Academy, police officials say

Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department has arrested 74-year-old Tony Nichols in connection with the aggravated bank robbery that occurred on February 8, 2025. Nichols has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

The arrest followed an extensive investigation by Waco PD Special Crimes Detectives, who identified the suspect by examining video surveillance footage. Key to identifying the vehicle involved in the robbery was a search for distinctive custom tires and wheels visible in the footage.

The investigation, which also involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), ultimately led to Nichols’ arrest. The Waco Police Department expressed gratitude for the FBI’s assistance during the process.

Original details from the February 8 release report that Waco Police officers responded to a call at 11:25 a.m. regarding an aggravated bank robbery in the 800 block of Hewitt Drive. A white male entered the business, demanding money at gunpoint. No injuries were reported, and the suspect fled in a white Toyota Tundra. The male was described as wearing white pants, a gray shirt, a gray jacket, and a black mask at the time of the robbery.

If anyone has information related to the robbery, they are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 254-753-HELP (4357).
