Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller praises Trump’s China trade agreement

Waco, TX – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has announced his support for the inaugural Future Farmers of America (FFA) Auctioneering Camp, the first of its kind in Texas. The camp aims to promote a career path vital to the livestock, land, and equipment markets while developing key skills in communication, leadership, and entrepreneurship among youth interested in agriculture.

The FFA Auctioneering Camp aligns with Texas FFA’s goals of preparing students for meaningful careers in agriculture by offering hands-on experience in auctioneering—a profession essential to agricultural markets. The program is modeled after successful camps in other states and is the result of a strong partnership between Texas FFA, the Texas Auctioneers Association, and the National Auction Association.

Commissioner Miller highlighted the importance of auctioneering in the agricultural industry, stating, “Auctioneering plays a critical role in the agricultural industry, and I’m proud to support the inaugural FFA Auctioneering Camp in Texas.” He emphasized that the program provides students with valuable real-world skills that extend beyond agriculture, such as public speaking, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

The camp is designed not only for students with traditional agricultural backgrounds but also for those from diverse experiences, broadening access to the profession and encouraging a new generation of agricultural producers. By participating in the camp, students can explore the auction industry while strengthening their communication and leadership abilities.

Morgan Hopson, Vice President of the National Auction Association and a former FFA member, also expressed enthusiasm for the program. He described the camp as “more than a contest,” calling it a transformational experience that integrates classroom learning with real-world application. Hopson believes this initiative will strengthen Texas FFA and help shape the future of the auctioneering profession.

The launch of the FFA Auctioneering Camp marks a significant step toward establishing auctioneering as an official State Career Development Event in Texas, opening new opportunities for young people to pursue careers in agriculture and beyond.
