Waco, TX – The City of Waco announced that District One Councilmember Andrea J. Barefield has officially assumed the office of president of the Texas Municipal League.
City officials said Barefield is a long-time advocate for local government and also serves as president of the Texas Association of Black City Council Members.
She additionally holds a position on the National League of Cities Board of Directors.
According to the city, Barefield will serve in her new role representing municipalities across Texas through 2027.
Officials and community members extended congratulations following the announcement, highlighting her continued leadership role in both state and national municipal organizations.
