Dallas, TX – Dallas Police Department officers arrested a 24-year-old suspect following a vehicle and foot pursuit connected to a robbery involving a stolen vehicle and cell phone.
According to the Department, the incident occurred on May 18, 2026, when officers assigned to Project Safe Neighborhood located an armed suspect who had allegedly stolen a victim’s cell phone and vehicle at gunpoint around 11:00 a.m. in the 13100 block of North Central Expressway.
Police said the suspect later drove the stolen vehicle to the 13300 block of Amanda Lane, prompting Project Safe Neighborhood officers to request assistance from Air1 and additional units to help stop the vehicle.
Following a brief pursuit, the suspect stopped on Interstate 30 and fled on foot. Officers pursued the suspect and took him into custody shortly after.
Authorities identified the suspect as 24-year-old Damarquis Cotton. Investigators reported that he was found in possession of an airsoft pistol loaded with real bullets, along with the victim’s cell phone.
Cotton has been charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, a third-degree felony. Officials said additional charges related to the robbery are pending as the investigation continues under case number 071074-2026.
