Austin, TEXAS – The Austin Fire Department is honoring Chief Rob Vires as he retires after more than three decades of service with the department.
Officials said Vires served in multiple divisions during his career, including Prevention, Communications, Special Operations, Training, and Operations.
For the past seven years, he held the role of Chief of Staff, overseeing day-to-day operations for more than 1,300 fire personnel.
Department leaders described Vires as a well-respected figure within the organization and noted his long-standing contributions to the department’s operations and leadership structure.
The Austin Fire Department wished him well in retirement and thanked him for his 31 years of service.
