Houston, TX – The Houston Police Department said a joint operation with the FBI led to the seizure of 22 illegal firearms, a significant quantity of narcotics, and more than $64,000 in cash.
According to the department, the operation was carried out on July 14 by the Houston Police Department’s Gang Division Squad 3 with assistance from the department’s SWAT Detail and the FBI’s Houston Field Office.
During the operation, investigators seized 22 illegal firearms along with large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine. Authorities also recovered more than $64,000 in cash.
Police did not release additional details about the investigation, including where the operation took place, whether arrests were made, or whether additional charges are expected.
The Houston Police Department said the operation was the result of a collaborative effort between local and federal law enforcement agencies aimed at disrupting criminal activity involving illegal firearms and narcotics.
Officials routinely work with federal partners, including the FBI, on investigations involving gangs, drug trafficking, and other violent crimes. Such operations are intended to remove illegal weapons and dangerous drugs from communities while targeting individuals involved in organized criminal activity.
