Waco, TX – Construction is continuing on Waco’s new Fire Station 4, with exterior finishing work beginning as crews continue electrical and plumbing work inside the facility.
The nearly $6 million, 8,600-square-foot fire station is being built at 801 La Salle Avenue and will replace the existing Fire Station 4, which has served the Baylor University area since 1966.
According to the City of Waco, the project is progressing as planned, with work now moving into additional exterior and interior phases. The new facility is expected to open in early 2027.
The station will include three apparatus bays designed to accommodate emergency response vehicles. It will also feature individual sleeping quarters and accommodations for up to eight firefighters per shift.
The new building will have a Spanish-style exterior intended to complement the La Salle Avenue corridor. A special statue honoring firefighters will also be included as part of the facility.
Fire Station 4 has served the area for decades, providing emergency response coverage to the Baylor University area and surrounding parts of Waco. The new station is intended to provide updated facilities for firefighters while supporting the city’s emergency response operations.
With exterior finishing now beginning and electrical and plumbing work underway inside, construction is continuing toward the planned early 2027 opening.
The City of Waco said it was pleased to see the project taking shape as work continues on the new facility.
