Waco, TX – The City of Waco announced that repairs and replacement of lighting along the I-35 frontage road bridges over the Brazos River near McLane Stadium were underway.
According to the city, many of the existing light fixtures had stopped working over time because of weather exposure and the limited availability of replacement and repair parts.
The project will replace outdated components with an updated lighting system designed to improve reliability and make future maintenance easier.
The city said the new lights were expected to be operational in time for Baylor University football’s first home game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 12.
The repairs are focused on improving the lighting system along the bridges in the area near McLane Stadium, a prominent part of the route surrounding the Brazos River and Baylor’s campus.
The city did not provide an estimated cost or specific completion timeline beyond the expectation that the lights would be working ahead of the first home football game.
