Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department is reminding drivers to use caution on the roads after steady rain contributed to slick conditions and multiple crashes across the area Sunday.
Police said officers had been working several crashes during the first half of the day as rain continued to fall and road conditions became more hazardous.
The department noted that conditions were different from those seen on Thursday and Friday, when drivers may have felt more comfortable traveling in the rain.
“The roads are pretty slick, and the rain has been much more consistent,” police said.
Waco police also reminded drivers to slow down or move over when approaching officers, tow truck operators, firefighters, AMR crews or anyone else stopped along the roadway.
The department said taking extra caution around emergency personnel is important for everyone’s safety.
Drivers are encouraged to reduce their speed, remain alert and allow additional distance between vehicles while traveling in wet conditions.
