Waco, TX – A tense standoff in Bosque County early Friday morning came to a peaceful conclusion after a suspect surrendered to law enforcement following extended negotiations. Deputies from Bosque County and Clifton police responded to a disturbance call near Lakeside Village at approximately 5:30 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers were informed by two residents that a male suspect inside the home had assaulted a family member. Deputies attempted to have the suspect exit the house, but he refused and instead barricaded all entrances. Authorities say the suspect made statements indicating he was unwilling to surrender, escalating the situation.
As the standoff continued, law enforcement engaged in a series of negotiations with the suspect. A shift sergeant successfully convinced the individual to place his weapons outside the front door, signaling the beginning of a de-escalation. The situation remained tense, but the suspect eventually became cooperative after several hours of discussion.
In a final turn of events, the suspect exited the residence and surrendered peacefully to deputies. McLennan County SWAT had been placed on standby in case a forced entry became necessary, but their assistance was not required as the situation resolved without incident.
