Governor Abbott presented flood relief checks to Concho Valley families

Texas – Governor Greg Abbott joined the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund to present financial assistance to families in the Concho Valley affected by the catastrophic Fourth of July floods.

“This is to help you begin or continue the process of rebuilding your property,” Governor Abbott said, acknowledging the challenges the families have faced. He noted that donations from fellow Texans, raised during the “Strait to the Heart” benefit concert hosted by George Strait and Estancia Estates founder Tom Cusick, made the relief possible. The concert raised over $6 million to support flood-impacted Texans.

This marks the fourth event attended by Governor Abbott to deliver funds to families whose primary homes were damaged or destroyed. Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd also joined the presentation.

Last month, Governor Abbott visited the Spur Arena Disaster Recovery Center to meet with families, first responders, and volunteers in the aftermath of the flooding. Additional photos of the event are expected to be released.
