Waco, TX – A routine traffic stop early Friday morning resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old man and the recovery of multiple illegal substances, including cocaine, Xanax, hydrocodone, and marijuana. The arrest occurred after a McLennan County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a tan Chevrolet pickup truck for failing to signal a turn.
According to an arrest affidavit, the incident took place shortly after 1:00 a.m. when the deputy stopped the vehicle driven by Brandon Clay Williams. As the deputy was exiting his patrol unit, Williams abruptly got out of the truck. The driver identified himself, and the deputy observed a knife on Williams, which was promptly confiscated.
During a subsequent pat down, the deputy discovered a small, clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance in Williams’ front pocket. Williams reportedly identified the substance as cocaine. When asked if there were any other illegal items in the vehicle, Williams admitted to having marijuana inside.
A check of Williams’ record revealed an outstanding warrant for possession of cocaine, prompting the deputy to search the vehicle further. The search uncovered two satchel bags—one black and one camo-style—containing a variety of drugs, including Xanax pills, hydrocodone pills, and marijuana. Additionally, the deputy found THC vape pens and wax, which appeared to be from California, along with several small plastic bags and a digital scale.
Williams was arrested and taken to the McLennan County Jail, where he was booked on four charges related to the possession of controlled substances. These charges, in addition to his outstanding warrant for possession of cocaine, were confirmed during the investigation. As of Friday afternoon, Williams remained in custody with his bond for the cocaine charge set at $250,000. Bail for the other charges is still pending.
